‘Small Type’ is the name of this modular kitchen created by German designers Kristin Laass and Norman Ebelt. The kitchen system is intentionally built to fit into the small spaces and accommodate the diverse habits of its users. The main objective of the kitchen proto type is to provide a smooth work cycle and intuitive operation to users. With 1m² when closed, ‘small type’ can be turned in a jiffy as a dining table and when you’re done with your food then the table can be transformed into a manual dish washer and when it is rolled away you will get full capability of the kitchen unit with a refrigerator, induction cooktop, oven, and storage space.
So why can’t this brilliant kitchen concept realized into commercial kitchen so the public can buy? Well we aren’t too sure either why, but we hope that it comes into production as this compact kitchen really will works well with small spaces. ‘Small Kitchen’ was one of 6 projects presented by the students of burg giebichenstein: hochschule fur kunst und design halle at DMY international design festival berlin 2010.
Tres cool. Is this unit available anywhere? Any info would be appreciated.
